An exciting opportunity is available for a full-time Intermediate Electrical Designer from our Hamilton/Burlington office.
As an Intermediate Electrical Designer, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:
- 5+ years of industrial design experience including equipment layouts, grounding, cable tray layouts, lighting layouts, heat tracing, building services, conduit/cable & panelboard schedules, and installation details
- 5+ years of experience and working knowledge of LV & MV Single Line Diagrams, wiring diagrams and Electrical Load lists
- 5+ years of experience with motor control design philosophy and development of motor control schematics
- Define, and re-define as necessary, the scope of work in co-operation with engineers
- Assist in the review and comprehension of design layouts
- Assist in the selection of suitable components and equipment, within budget
- Assist on the development of instillation and routing details, in compliance with applicable codes
- Assist in the coordination of the overall planning of the detailing approach
- Guide and advise assigned CAD operators and junior designers
- Assist in the training and direction to CAD operators and junior designers
- Write, or assist in writing, specifications and reports necessary to create a complete engineering deliverables package
- Assist in the preparation of project timelines and work schedules
- Provide estimating support to engineers
- Complete work in a timely and efficient manner
- Pro-actively seek feedback and learning opportunities from others

The following skills and abilities are an asset:
- Revit design experience an asset
- Knowledge in Instrumentation an asset
- Experience in preparing designs and drawings of Classified Hazardous Areas an asset
- Experience in MV/HV power system design (substation, pole line. Relaying, P&C) an asset
- Experience in VFD motor control (LV/MV) specifications and asset
Education and Experience
- 5+ years relevant working experience
- High school diploma required
- College level diploma, Skilled Trades, Technologist or Technician required
- Membership in professional association preferred
