Position Summary
Eager to contribute to telling the end-to-end story of UHN, Canada’s #1 Hospital through social and traditional media? UHN is seeking a versatile communications practitioner to join the External Communications team within the Communications & Brand Strategy department.
To succeed in the role of Communications Advisor, External, you must enjoy interacting with traditional media as well as helping to create engagement around stories and information on social channels. You’re familiar with using various metrics and insights to contribute to decision-making and understand the value of monitoring outcomes as part of reporting and continuous improvement. Working on a small team and collaborating across a diverse department is your jam and interacting with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels is a challenge that you welcome. You know what’s needed for media or other public events and have the organizational and inter-personal communication skills to make sure things run smoothly.
In your portfolio, you have examples of media pitches, spokesperson briefing notes, social content (written and visual) you’ve created to promote an organization’s narrative, and external events you’ve coordinated. Your hands-on experience includes social listening and engagement.
You have experience working collaboratively with writers, videographers, photographers, graphic designers, and others on small and large projects. You stay calm and effective under pressure. Open to coaching, you know when it’s time to raise your hand for help and do so with the confidence of a continual learner.
When mistakes happen, you take appropriate accountability and seek to learn from the experience to prevent recurrence. You are also a constructive contributor to improving upstream processes.
Reporting to the Manager, External Communications, you will contribute to sharing the impact of UHN through effective execution of the organization’s omni-channel communications and marketing strategy
