The Community Engagement Coordinator will exhibit a strong dedication to relationship-building with community as well as a commitment to reconciliation, equity, inclusion, diversity and accessibility. This position will focus on community engagement initiatives to support decision-making and gain public insight into the challenges and opportunities for the City of Cambridge
Develops and implements engagement strategies that support the City-wide initiatives, in accordance with best practices and in consideration of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
Build engagement initiatives with teams to assist in developing an engagement framework and policy for the municipality.
Support staff in conducting their engagement processes and ensure the approaches align with the City's overall goals.
Knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultures and understanding of Indigenous reconciliation actions needed to facilitate meaningful, respectful, and ethical engagement with Indigenous populations.
Engage with a variety of community groups to understand issues impacting equity deserving groups.
Research and evaluate alternatives to current consultation and engagement practices and makes recommendations to Corporate Leadership Team.
Advise on engagement plans, activities, and report outcomes.
Establish engagement programs and build capacity that supports the City in achieving priorities and address emerging opportunities.
Provide support for coordinated information sharing, monitor and report on the City’s engagement framework, processes, and results. Identify innovative approaches, continuous improvement, and best practices.
Support development across all divisions with staff and stakeholders as it relates to the engagement framework and corporate initiatives.
Develop and facilitate engagement opportunities including problem solving and idea creation between the municipality, community and foster awareness around service delivery and connection to public service.
Research, create, and maintain the City's community engagement framework.
Train staff across the City in the model.
Undergraduate degree in Community Engagement, Public Administration, Communications, Political Science, or Community Development or related field
Minimum 2 years' experience coordinating programs.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating engagement and consultation plans, as well as supporting the development of communications strategies and plans.
Experience in facilitating community and internal meetings, presentations, workshops, and trainings.
Experience in working with internal and external stakeholders, diverse community groups, and managing stakeholder expectations.
Developing manuals and training tools related to community engagement.
Demonstrated experience providing training, developing programming and policies and implementing engagement framework/strategies.
Experience with Indigenous community groups with demonstrated consideration of principles such as equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility.
Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.
Worker Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour
This position is within Grade 8 of the Inside Workers Union salary schedule, the salary range is $70,344 to $74,763. We offer a compensation benefit package and offer Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) employer.
The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the Collective Agreement, however, currently we are 8:30am to 4:30pm (35 hours per week). Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings as required.
