Here at the Ministry of Trade and Export Development, we work collaboratively with businesses, organizations, and other governments to attract investment, grow export markets, and create opportunities in Saskatchewan.

The Marketing and Communications Branch is full of creative people who are dedicated to telling this story. The branch is a high energy, fast paced environment.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and skilled communicator to join our Communications team as a Senior Communications Consultant.

In this position, responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate communications/issues management strategies that build support for and awareness of the ministry's policies, programs, and services.
- Monitoring issues and trends in the media and determining appropriate strategies for ministry response to sensitive issue.
- Acting as the ministrys media spokesperson.
- Providing strategic advice to senior officials.
- Researching and writing a wide range of communications materials such as communications strategies, media responses, news releases, strategic key messages, website content, and other duties as assigned.
- Support ministry colleagues in fostering a great culture.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would have been acquired through:
- The completion of an undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a combination of education in a comparable field and experience.
- Professional accreditation or certification (IABC, CPRS) is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of government practices and protocol, and knowledge of the ministrys program areas will also be considered an asset.
- A valid Saskatchewan drivers licence is an asset as occasional travel within the province will be required.
