ABOUT THE ROLE
The District Loss Prevention Manager is responsible for implementing national loss prevention strategy and programs within assigned district to address and mitigate shortage reduction, people development, safety and operational standards through training and awareness. Hires, trains, manages loss prevention personnel within assigned district.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop the field organization in the area of loss prevention through training, communication and awareness programs.
- Evaluate risks, controls and processes to ensure the highest level of operational efficiency.
- Develop, identify and implement effective loss prevention solutions and approaches customized to their Area of Responsibility to reduce all shrink related factors, paying special attention to the high shrink stores. Analyze loss prevention activities and shrink performance to identify areas in need of improvement. Partner with store and district managers to identify and resolve shrink problems with appropriate action plans.
- Implement and administer the Operational Excellence Program (OPEX). Work with, train and mentor management teams to ensure operational excellence. Conducts timely completion of all scheduled store evaluations within area of responsibility, identifies opportunities for enhancement and develops action plans
- Implement and administer training programs for store personnel – Focus on shrinkage and loss prevention, including methods to deter and handle shoplifting and internal theft. Conducts timely completion of all scheduled store visits and oversees cast member-training sessions within area of responsibility
- Ensure store management and cast are in compliance with all loss prevention and operational procedures established to protect company assets. Investigate all discrepancies, indications of dishonesty, fraud or criminal acts, in accordance with established procedures.
- Utilize exception based reporting system to cultivate cases. Interview internal employees and cultivate admissions based on company guidelines. Where appropriate, develop investigative cases with a view to criminal prosecution. Partner in all such cases with the National Loss Prevention Manager and Human Resources before police intervention.
- Directly responsible to ensure that all store loss prevention systems and programs are fully operational, being regularly maintained, and properly utilized, including CCTV, alarms, locks, etc.
- Hire, develop and manage Loss Prevention Leads and Agents. Responsible for developing and administering performance for development, quarterly check-ins, and annual reviews.
- Ensure compliance with company apprehension guidelines. Review incident reports to ensure compliance to loss prevention standards.
- Cultivate effective liaison relationships with police departments and mall security and management teams.
- Contribute to national loss prevention level projects and initiatives

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5-7 years’ of multi-unit retail loss prevention management experience
- Strong management/leadership skills necessary to develop cohesive loss prevention teams. Liaise effectively with store management and cast, and other cross-functional teams.
- Advanced influence, persuasion, partnership abilities
- Ability to create or tailor solutions that meet specific requirements
- Track record of dealing with sensitive loss prevention issues in an ethical manner and demonstrating a commitment towards proactive loss prevention and teambuilding.
- Understanding of criminal and civil law as it applies to the retail environment.
- Expert level knowledge of investigation techniques, evidence gathering, chain of evidence, court procedures and regulatory compliance procedures
- Familiarity with POS systems, CCTV, Exception Reporting, and Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS)
- Strong written, verbal, interviewing, listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, analytical and auditing skills.
- Ability to develop plans, policies or procedures in a clear and concise manner.
- Able to travel routinely within assigned area of responsibility. Travel requirement is approximately 60% of the job and includes local and out of town travel locations.
- Proficiency with computer technology including loss prevention applications, MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Access is helpful), store systems.
- Formal investigative and interview training (i.e. Wickerlander & Zulawski, Reid Technique).
- Able to work in a fragrance filled environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
