Employee will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the church facility and property.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Maintenance
Work with Supervisor on maintenance issues at the Corps Building such as:
- Perform minor plumbing functions such as replacing toilet seats & faucets
- Minor patching of dry wall, & painting
- Door locks & closure repairs
- Furniture assembly/repairs (cabinets, desks, chairs etc.) in church as needed.
- Window & Blind repairs as needed.
- Winter- removal of snow around doorways, emergency exits, walkways, & salting of these areas.
- Daily Inspect for hazards, make monthly report for OHS.
- Maintenance and other related work, onsite
Custodial
- Wash floors and clean in all offices once a week on Fridays, or when needed
- Clean & tidy Church sanctuary before Sunday worship services or major events
- Wipe windows and all other furniture once or twice weekly
- Dust furniture and wall items in main area
- Clean windows in main area
- Cleaning around building
- Clean all washrooms, toilets, sinks and floors
- Empty garbage bins and replace bags
- Summer- sweeping of walkways & mowing of grass with some minor landscaping responsibilities
- Ensure that washrooms are stocked with soap, toilet tissue and paper towels
General Duties
- Replace blown light bulbs throughout facility
- Notify supervisor when supplies are needed
- Preparing for events by setting up chairs & tables
Other related duties as assigned

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:
- Reports directly to: Corps Officer
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Responsible for maintaining cleaning supply inventory
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working environment is typically in the corps building in generally agreeable conditions and some outdoor duties.
- Days and Hours of work: 10 hours per week, mainly weekdays.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

- High School Diploma
- Related maintenance Education/ Certificates would be an asset
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum 6 months custodial and/or maintenance work experience
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Dependable
- Excellent communication skills
- Friendly disposition
- Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs, and may be asked occasionally to lift or move heavy objects up to 50 lbs with assistance.
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license (Class 5) considered an asset.
- Clean Driver’s Abstract
- Valid Criminal record check with vulnerable sector
WORKING CONDITIONS: Part Time - 10 hours per week. Eligible for RRSP enrollment after 3 months, paid sick and vacation time.
