Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the Midwifery Education Programin the Faculty of Community Servicesat Toronto Metropolitan University(formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for two (2) Limited Term Faculty (LTF) positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment shall be effective July 1, 2024for a one year term, subject to final budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will engage in teaching and service duties of faculty members in the Midwifery Education Program, but not required to engage in research. The successful candidate will maintain an inclusive, equitable and collegial work environment and contribute to our undergraduate (BHSc) program through teaching, mentoring and supervision of students to facilitate junior scholars and diversify the field.
The successful candidate(s) shall have the requisite midwifery education and training, and would be hired at 0.5 FTE, taking into account the candidate’s need to maintain a midwifery currency. As per the Toronto Metropolitan University Faculty Association collective agreement and adjusting for at 0.5 FTE, the candidate would have a workload of teaching 3 courses and service responsibilities.
Candidates must hold a master’s degree in a field relevant to midwifery by the appointment date.

Having a previous program of research impacting the profession and clinical practice of midwifery is an asset. Our definition of research/scholarship is broad, including service-related quality improvement, clinical guideline development, Indigenous-based epistemology or exploration, historical knowledge building, development of teaching learning strategies, government sector reports, etc.

Note: Limited Term Faculty appointments at Toronto Metropolitan University may not exceed a combined total of four years. Applicants with prior Toronto Metropolitan LTF appointments need to consider this limitation, as it may render them ineligible to apply.
