Job Duties
- Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, and cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items using kitchen equipment
- Prepare and cook specialty curry dishes and other dishes
- Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling food and beverages
- Supervise and advise kitchen staff and helpers
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
- Estimate food requirements and cost, and monitor and order supplies
- Clean kitchen and work areas
- Prepare all food and beverage items to the highest standard following recipes and procedures
- Anticipate and respond to flow of orders to ensure timely completion of all food items
- Accurately complete all station set up and closing procedures
- Maintain food quality control and productivity at all times
- Adhere to all safe food handling procedures and uphold food safety practices
- Maintain cleanliness and health & safety standards of your station at all times
- Follow all operational policies and procedures
Employment requirements
- Completion of secondary school is usually required.
- 2-3 years of commercial cooking experience or Completion of a 3-year apprenticeship program for cooks or Completion of college program in cooking with 6 months on the job training
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to stand in kitchen for long periods of time and carry out physical tasks
- Ability to provide consistent and reliable services in preparation of foods
Benefits
As per BC Employment Standards Act, 4% vacation pay of the gross salary each pay period or 10 days of paid vacation (worker will choose). Free meals are provided.
