Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Special Events, the Event Attendant is responsible for assisting with events and activities at various parks and facilities including set up, take down and operating of events and equipment, controlling access to the facility and monitoring participants and spectators. This casual, part-time position works on site in a public facing, fast paced environment with event organizers while providing excellent customer service to all Londoners and visitors.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the set-up and take down of programs, special events and rentals including operating related equipment.
- Work collaboratively with other City of London staff to support successful events.
- Control access to facility and monitor participants and spectators at events.
- Ensure hallways, walkways, doorways and rooms of facilities are secure when not in use and clear of obstructions at all times.
- Carry out and document the cleaning of the facility, hallways, performers rooms, stage, change rooms, washrooms and storage areas including duties such as sweeping and mopping and ensure washrooms are stocked with necessary supplies per City of London Cleaning Protocols.
- Assist event organizers with changing and emptying garbage, recycling and compost receptacles.
- Assist event organizers by providing access to electrical, water, and grey water connections and conduct grey water removal and drainage as required.
- Notify supervisory staff when building supplies need to be replenished.
- Conduct sound decibel readings.
- Provide excellent customer service assistance to event organizers, residents, and neighbourhood groups.
- Work a variety of shifts, primarily evenings and weekends, at a variety of locations.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinator or Manager.
Qualifications:
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of employment)
- Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) (prior to the start of employment)
- CSA approved green patch footwear is required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to travel to a variety of work locations and primarily evening and weekends across London.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- High level of comfort in fast paced, flexible public facing environments.
- Knowledge of janitorial functions.
- Comfort with technological equipment and basic troubleshooting
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, furniture (including tables and chairs) and garbage and recycling bags.
Other Information:
Wage: $17.00 - $19.75 per hour
