Job description

POSITION
Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of a Data Processing Technician to work on a permanent full-time basis for the Information Technology department.

FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Coordinator of Information Technology, the selected incumbent will provide support to regular day and Continuing Education users. More specifically, the selected incumbent will carry out tasks such as network management, SkyTech, 3rd party software and website support, Windows and Mac Operating System support.

Network Management
1. Support Avaya phone systems;
2. Install, configure and support wireless network devices;
3. Install, configure and update network components to comply with security requirements;
4. Ensure the proper functioning and monitoring of networks and operating systems;
5. Identify when equipment requires replacement and assist in the planning and ordering process for replacements and equipment cascading;
6. Identify when equipment is broken and repair or upgrade it as necessary;
7. Add, modify and delete user privileged access;
8. Monitor security risks relating to the inventory of computer equipment and devise plans to mitigate risk;
9. Provide appropriate feedback to clients;
10. Install, configure and update software and hardware, including in classrooms and labs;
11. Ensure the proper functioning of servers and solve problems that may arise;
12. Perform troubleshooting on all information systems as problems arise and provide accurate and timely status reports;
13. Respond to queries pertaining to the use of software and provide guidance to staff and faculty;
14. Assist with the creation of Audio/Video content to support user experience;
15. Provide support in the preparation of documentation for programs such as procedures manuals, standards and operating manuals;
16. Perform other related tasks.

SkyTech, 3rd party software and website support
1. Provide website support to faculty and staff to ensure that our 3rd party websites are secure and deal with any security risks and reporting in a timely manner;
2. Perform web master functions as required to support the Champlain website by publishing pre-approved content to the site and ensuring that any potential security risks are dealt with quickly and efficiently, including reporting that may be required;
3. Manage the Omnivox communities and publishing of content to those communities to support the operations of the College and the support of the user community;
4. Assist in the generation of the Service Catalogue that will be offered to members of the College;
5. Identify when equipment requires replacement and assist in the planning and ordering process for replacements and cascading;
6. Assist in developing and documenting data saving and data safety and data security procedures and ensure their implementation, including Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP), Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Business Resumption Planning (BRP);
7. Provide appropriate feedback to clients;
8. Respond to queries pertaining to the use of software and provide guidance to staff and faculty;
9. Complete Moodle requests and provide ongoing support;
10. Provide technical support and assistance on all SkyTech modules;
11. Assist with the creation of Audio/Video content to support user experience;
12. Provide support in the preparation of documentation for programs such as procedures manuals, standards and operating manuals;
13. Perform other related tasks.

Windows and Mac Operating System support
1. The incumbent will be responsible for phone support of desktop, laptops, tablets and peripherals including hardware and software deployment;
2. Providing local and remote technical support to faculty and students;
3. Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues;
4. Document and manage faculty and student requests using the ticket tracking system, while proactively prioritizing and tracking open tickets;
5. Provide technical support to faculty in the use of hardware and software;
6. Make the necessary service calls and follow ups for the repair of equipment and verifies that the repairs have been effected as required;
7. Test and evaluate hardware and software for nominal operation post-deployment;
8. Maintains the labs and classrooms in an orderly fashion;
9. Provide basic training on the functionality of our system including creating Audio/Video content and support documentation;
10. Perform other related tasks.

Requirements :

Education
Must have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty such as a Technical DEC, Computer Science, Network and Security Management or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

Asset
Experience in operating a computer network in a College-level environment;
Network certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE;
SCCM Software and Macintosh troubleshooting skills;
Experience in supporting Mac environments;
Working knowledge of SkyTech software, including OmniVox.

Competencies
Must be able to communicate in English and French, orally and in writing;
Must have a knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
Must have basic knowledge of a virtualized environment and its operations;
Must have networking knowledge and skills;
Must be familiar with PC's and Macintosh computers and their respective operating systems;
Knowledge of Moodle, Zoom and Teams;
Ability to manage priorities and handle stress;
Undertake main duties with minimal supervision;
Polite, courteous and excellent client service. Required Tests : Candidates will be required to submit to language tests (French and English) as well as a computer test Work Schedule : Monday to Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35 hours per week) as well as after-hours on-call support of 1 to 2 hours per week Salary Scale : 24.21$ - 32.32$ Start of Posting Period : 2024-03-05 End of Posting Period : 2024-03-18 23:59
