Job description
Our client is a successful and growing consulting firm offering project management services for government agencies, ministries, and organizational units.
They are adding a Development Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing the development, implementation, and evaluation of real estate development projects from concept to completion.
The new hire will be able to work from one of the following locations: Kamloops, Kelowna, and Vancouver, BC with Kamloops or Kelowna as preferred. Hybrid model will be offered, fully remote an option.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct strategic analysis including portfolio assessments, lease vs own analysis, opportunity and risk analysis, market analysis, and strategy and options analysis for development opportunities and benchmarking.
- Negotiating business terms and deal structures with approving authorities, development partners, and other stakeholders.
- Financial analysis and development proformas and projections, asset and land rights valuations, and other financial analysis.
- Identifying potential risks associated with a project or property and providing a risk mitigation strategy.
- Evaluating opportunities for partnership scenarios including those with local First Nations.
- Leading and managing pre-development feasibility assessments.
- Developing and implementing project management plans based on the principles of PMI.
- Developing and delivering presentations and reports.
- Developing asset management plans to ensure maximum value is being generated and the assets are being maintained.
- Reviewing leases, licenses, and property management contracts.
- Contributing to mentoring, training, and team member growth.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with company’s Leads, including:
- PMO Lead (Project Management Office) – to support professional project delivery
- Resource Lead – to inform resourcing needs on assigned projects
- Client Services Lead – to ensure key client accountabilities are met
- Policy and Standards Lead – to ensure quality, health & safety, and other policies and procedures are followed
- Business Development Lead – to guide business development proposals and pursuits
Qualifications:
- Ability to achieve the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation within 6 months of commencement
- Bachelor’s degree in related disciplines (i.e., Business, Commerce, Real Estate, Economics, Planning, or Law), and/or
- Diploma in Urban Land Economics (DULE), and/or
- Real Estate Appraisal Designation (AACI or CRA), and/or
- RI designation from REIBC
- Minimum of 5 years practical experience, in the public or private sector, leading and managing relevant projects
- Experience in business planning, contract management, financial management, and negotiations
- Experience developing strategic partnerships and working directly with a range of partners (local government, First Nations, public sector, private sector)
- Experience managing a diversity of complex, multi-faceted projects simultaneously
- Experience at a senior level leading projects of large scale and complexity
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executives
- Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals and/or managers in the development and implementation of complex projects
