Campus Enforcement and Patrol
Grenfell Campus, Memorial University
(Contractual, Call-in Positions to September 27, 2024; with Possible Extension)
Located on the West Coast of Newfoundland in the City of Corner Brook, Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, this position provides on-site security services to students, employees, visitors, and facilities of Grenfell Campus. This opportunity is to develop a call-in list, which may result in long-term career advancement.
DUTIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for the safety and security, public outreach and education, incident response and management, and emergency communication to staff, faculty, students, and guests of Grenfell Campus, Memorial University, located in Corner Brook, NL. Duties include protecting the students, faculty, staff, guests, property, and equipment of the Campus; conducting foot and mobile patrols throughout Campus; providing escort services; monitoring criminal and suspicious activity; monitoring cameras; providing crisis and suicide intervention; acting as court witnesses; providing crowd and traffic control; enforcing provincial traffic laws and regulations on Grenfell Campus property; protecting crime scenes; acting as emergency first responders on Campus; providing intelligence for incidents and investigations; providing medical transport; participating in public outreach and educational activities; operating the Communications Control Centre; using and maintaining Memorial Incident Management System (MIMS); and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) in security work; graduation from high school supplemented by completion of a security program from an approved post-secondary institution, as well as internal training; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Possession of a valid First-Aid certification as well as a valid driver's license, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, are required. Successful candidates must be proficient and comfortable working with a range of computer programs such as MS Office Suite; MIMS, Security and Life Safety Systems, among others.
SALARY $22.54 - $26.46 per hour (NAPE Local 1804) plus 13% in lieu of benefits
Plus Shift Differential of $2.30 or $2.55 per hour, as applicable
