Job description

This is a contract position for a Database Administrator for our public sector client.
Work location: Downtown Toronto
Duration: Twelve Months
7.25 hours/day
This is a Hybrid role that requires the candidate to be onsite 3 days of the week (This is a mandatory requirement of the role and is non-negotiable outside of exceptional circumstances.)

Responsibilities
Assist with the design and configuration of the Amazon Redshift cluster as to ensure optimal cost/performance;
Assist in implementing/using advanced features such auto-scaling and workload management;Fine tune the data models (table distribution style, sorting, compression etc) including Redshift and Data Lake (S3) integration
Convert Oracle PL/SQL code to Amazon Redshift PL/pgSQL;
Troubleshoot any data migration issues
Be the main support point for any issues faced by the team which requires advanced Amazon Redshift knowledge;
Help optimizing any data pipelines which load data into Amazon Redshift
Provide knowledge transfer to other team members as needed.

Qualifications
Amazon Redshift (2+ years) and other AWS services (5+ years
Database/Data warehouse (10+ years)
AWS services (S3, Athena, Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, CloudWatch etc).
