Position Overview
Calian is seeking a Senior Project Manager to assist our client with the facilitation of their project.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a database of interdependencies and departmental decisions on their handling;
- Contribute to the drafting of strategic documents, reports, and briefings;
- Give briefings on progress and concerns of projects;
- Coordinate and prepare documentation in response to scheduled and unscheduled reports, returns and observations to update management on project progress;
- Prepare draft evaluation plans, criteria, and evaluation schedules;
- Develop, plan, analyze, evaluate, and prioritizing deliverables and requirements;
- Define and document team objectives;
- Determine and obtain budgetary requirements, composition, roles, responsibilities, and terms of reference for the team;
- Plan, direct and control the activities of a project team within scheduled time and cost parameters;
- Monitor the design, implementation, and operations start-up of the project against established goals, objectives, and milestones;
- Meet with stakeholders and other project managers and state problems in a form capable of being solved;
- Prepare plans, charts, tables, and diagrams to assist in analyzing or displaying problems;
- Work with a variety of project management tools such as MS Project and Visio;
- Formulate and manage project plans by defining deliverables, identifying key milestones, reviewing project progress, and engaging in ongoing risk management;
- Ensure management staff is provided with timely and accurate project information and status updates;
- Conduct post project reviews/lessons learned;
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic and business planning initiatives;
- Contribute to the development of organizational vision and mission;
- Coordinate, draft and prepare for signature formal project documents and reports
Qualifications
- Must have or be eligible for a valid Canadian Security Clearance at a Secret level
- Must have an Undergraduate Diploma, from a recognized Canadian university, college, or the equivalent
- Must have an MBA, MPA, PMP, or other relevant Graduate degrees from a recognized Canadian university, college, or the equivalent
- Must have a minimum of 5 years experience at a supervisory level working in a project environment related to concept development, equipment requirements, organizational structure and design
- Must have co-authored a minimum of one statement of requirement (SOR) within the 10 years addressing one of the following: concept development, equipment requirements, organizational structure and design
- Must have been the main author within the last 10 years of: Strategic Context Document;
- Business Case Analysis; Project Charter; Request for Information (RFI); Request for Proposal (RFP); and/or Responses to RFI/RFP
- Must have experience working in, or with, a defence related environment; such as the Department of National Defence (DND) / Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) / Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED-C), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), academia, advisory body, or defence industry, within the last 10 years
- Must have any of the following Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) qualifications relevant to the subject matter (or acceptable equivalency): Joint Command and Staff Program; Project Approval Course Complex Project and Procurement Leadership Certificate
Additional Requirements
- May be required to travel outside the NCR
- Must be available to work outside normal offices hours throughout the duration of the contract.
