Mechanical Integration Technician/Machine Builder
Our client, a rapidly growing company specializing in custom equipment assembly and manufacturing is actively seeking a skilled Mechanical Integration Technician to join their team in Oakville, ON. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a thriving company known for its positive work environment.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 1-2 years of experience as a Machine Builder or equivalent to join our team. The Mechanical Integration Technician will be responsible for machine assembly, collaboration with the integration team and contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the shop.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assembling custom robotics and materials handling equipment based on engineered drawings and manufacturers’ specifications.
- Conducting minor component fabrication, including the creation of custom parts or small modifications in the Machine Shop using various shop equipment and tools such as milling, saw cutting, drilling, tapping, grinding, etc.
- Producing sub-assemblies consisting of bearings, gears, pulleys, chains, belts, air cylinders, valves, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation & electrical components, piping, etc.
- Integrating major sub-assemblies, including robots, conveyors, wash & piping systems, hydraulic press cells, banding & wrapping equipment, etc.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and implementing effective solutions minimizing downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of work activities, equipment manuals, and parts inventory.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, identify potential safety hazards, and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
- Perform maintenance, inspections and repairs on industrial machinery and equipment, including but not limited to conveyors, pumps, motors, and production lines.
- Collaborate with other team members, engineers, and production staff to resolve issues and improve equipment performance.
- Participate in equipment upgrades, retrofits, and installations to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, conduct emergency repairs, and provide support during production emergencies.
- Adhere and apply 5s principles to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse layout.
- Ensure proper labeling and signage for different product categories and storage areas.
- Collaborate with team members to continuously improve workspace organization.
- Assisting with the unloading of machinery, dismantling, and preparing for shipment.
Requirements:
- 1-5 years’ experience as a Machine Builder or in applicable trade(s).
- Experience in the integration of robotics & heavy industrial materials handling machinery.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Machinist abilities are an asset.
- Welding and fabrication abilities.
- Electrical knowledge is an asset.
- Excellent safety skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
