Laboratory Analyst Location: Edmonton/Sherwood Park, AB Full Time Permanent Job Overview & Responsibilities:
Successful candidate will perform routine duties relating to sample preparation and analytical testing of petroleum coke samples.
Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to):
- Perform all stages of sample preparation, including crushing, sieving, drying
- Analysis of samples (Real Density, Moisture, pH, Vibrated Bulk Density, etc.), includes performing all relevant Quality Control activities required by the SOP
- Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports for the client
- Produce and maintain proper calibration and quality control records
- Build and maintain good working relationship with the client
- Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate PPE as required
Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have:
- Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in related field (i.e. Chemistry, Petroleum, Geology, Geochemistry)
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in sample preparation or in a mineral processing laboratory environment preferred
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) would be an asset.
- Excellent manual dexterity, record keeping, calculations and problem solving abilities.
- Good time-management, organization, multi-tasking, and priority setting skills
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Keen attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Safely perform physically demanding tasks with repeated lifting
- Ability to handle some lifting and carrying of samples up to 40lbs

Experience:
- Minimum Education: Diploma in related field (Required)
- 1-2 years of experience in related field (Preferred)
Schedule:
- Regular Monday to Friday – 8 hours.
- Occasional overtime work may be required
