Position Overview

Directly reporting to the Project Manager and coordinating with the supporting Quality Site representatives - the Civil Quality lead will be responsible for civil inspection, testing and subcontractor activities on a heavy industrial civil infrastructure project.
Note: This position may extend for a 12 month period.
The project is located on the Air Products site, in the industrial area north of Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Key Responsibilities
- Experience with managing a staff or 3-5 civil inspectors and site quality administrator.
- Performs on-site quality civil inspections in accordance with project requirements.
- Inspects in-progress and/or completed work to determine compliance with the standards and specifications.
- Oversees all civil subcontractors performing work on behalf of Aecon on the project and inspects the work, along with reviewing and accepting their related quality records.
- Assists with the implementation and maintenance of quality programs as required.
- Assists with the preparation and verification of various technical reports, including inspection and test plans, pre- and post-inspection documentation etc .
- Identifies and reports work that does not meet the quality requirements.
- Collaborates with the project team to determine approaches & methods to improve the overall quality of work.
- Assists with the tracking of non-conformance reports and corrective/ preventative action requests.
- Completes all associated documentation; Quality Control reports, sign-off on drawings, create as-built drawings, etc.
- Compiles all final project turnover documentation associated with the project.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience as a quality civil inspector is required.
- Experience with concrete inspections – pre-pour, placement, post-pour, temperature monitoring, curing, finishing, survey and backfill.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiar with inspection techniques related to civil construction, soil, and concrete testing.
- Exposure to industrial projects will be considered an asset.
- Computer literate in MS Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Proven ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven organization and time management skills.
- Ability to interact with project client representatives.
- Need to be a team player and driven for success.
- Local to the Yellowknife, NWT area would be a definite advantage.
