ABOUT THE ROLE
An exciting and challenging opportunity within TransAlta’s Data & Analytics team. Reporting to the Analytics Supervisor, the Data Analytics Intern will be responsible for working across our data management, analytics and business intelligences teams to create lasting solutions that turn data into insights and action.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of data related to asset management and performance
Design, develop and operationalize new BI reports for the business
Support the operations of any existing dashboards built by the team
Assist in the deconstruction of existing dashboards to modernize and automate them to our BI standards
Analyze data and provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve business performance and processes
Ensure data quality and accuracy across all deliverables
Document and communicate data findings and best practices
Document solutions development based on TransAlta standards
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
Working knowledge in SQL, Excel, Python, PowerBI, etc.
Knowledge of data visualization and storytelling techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Passion for learning and exploring new technologies and trends
Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
