Signal Hill Campus Operations, Conference and Event Services
(Contractual Position to March 31, 2026)
DESCRIPTION
The Office of Signal Hill Campus Operations, Conference and Event Services (SHC Ops/CES) at Memorial University is responsible for the Signal Hill Campus Graduate Student Accommodations; the Emera Innovation Exchange Conference Centre, the Johnson Geo Centre event spaces; venues on St. John’s Campus; and for the provision of event, meeting, and conference-related services for Memorial’s St. John’s Campus (SJC) and Signal Hill Campus (SHC).
SHC Ops/CES is looking for an outgoing and energetic marketing professional to join our welcoming and dedicated team. We’re looking for a flexible, high achieving, and creative professional who wants to make a difference through their work and knows how to embrace ambiguity and problem solving. SHC Ops/CES is a relatively new and maturing unit, and this position will have a great opportunity to be creative, have ownership of their work and shape the unit’s success. RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director, SHC Operations, Conference and Event Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing unit marketing plans; executing unit marketing and communications activities; managing communication channels including social media, websites, and written documents/articles; planning and executing a selection of public programming in support of marketing objectives; providing recommendations and implementing customer experience related initiatives; interacting externally with organizations and internally with the University’s faculties/departments to generate sales leads and/or partnership opportunities; reviewing and interpreting financial forecasting data with the Director/Financial Lead and developing/supporting sales targets and achievement plans; exploring and developing new revenue generation opportunities; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-4 years) in marketing and project management; graduation with an Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, communication studies, public relations; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of, and experience in, marketing, digital marketing, and social media is required. The ideal candidate will be a team player who takes initiative; has excellent judgement and self-reliance; possesses strong organizational, leadership, communication (written and verbal), research, and planning skills; as well as a demonstrated marketing acumen. Knowledge of web, social media, digital applications, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with data analysis or a willingness to learn in this area is considered an asset. Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience with print and web publishing, digital marketing, and customer relationship management (CRM) software and tools are considered assets. A willingness to learn new things is also a key attribute to your success and we’re eager to learn from you as well! SHC Ops/CES operates during evenings/weekends and this position may require occasional work outside of the normal Monday to Friday work hours to support the unit’s objectives; however, given the nature of the work environment a flexible workplace culture exists in support of this.
SALARY $53,696 - $80,539 per annum (Management and Professional)
