The Department of Health has an opening for the Director of Business Management within the Pharmaceutical Services Branch.
As the Director of Business Management, you will:
- Lead the development, implementation, management, monitoring, and evaluation of New Brunswick public drug plans and cost containment strategies in order to provide cost-effective drug coverage to residents of New Brunswick.
- Lead New Brunswick's participation in the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA). This includes regular participation on pCPA meetings and discussions and providing strategic advice and expertise. It also includes leading negotiations with drug manufacturers.
- Provide leadership, expertise, and direction on negotiating and managing drug product listing agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers.
- Oversee the administration of the NB Drug Plans by the third-party administrator. This includes directing the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and strategies while managing day-to-day operational questions and issues.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including the pharmaceutical industry, community pharmacy, and the private insurance industry.
- Collaborate with federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions on pan-Canadian pharmaceutical initiatives.
- Lead or participate in special projects that support the Pharmaceutical Services Branch's Strategic Plan.
- Provide strategic advice on pharmaceutical issues to the Department of Health's senior leadership, other Government Departments, and other Department of Health branches.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy with a minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in different pharmacy practice settings, which includes a minimum of 3 years experience in drug plan management, pharmaceutical sector, or government.
- Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.
Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics or a related field.
- Experience with leading or managing complex, multi-faceted projects or strategic initiatives.
- Experience with negotiation processes and strategies.
- Experience with contract management.
- Knowledge of health policy and publicly funded health systems.
Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications, in addition to the essential qualifications, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $114,244 to $125,736 per annum
