(Replacement Temporary, Part-Time – Approximately 15 months)

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. The West Vancouver Memorial Library has an opening for a replacement temporary part-time Librarian I position working in the Youth Department working with preschoolers, kids, teens, families, and educators. WVML’s Youth Department is high-functioning, innovative, inclusive and proud to serve the community of West Vancouver. We anticipate a Monday-Thursday schedule (including Monday evenings) with the option of taking occasional additional shifts on Sundays or Fridays, beginning in mid or late-May.

Duties may change based upon operational needs and may include, but are not limited to:

The ideal candidate will possess: a Masters Degree in library and information science from an accredited school; minimum of one year of experience working as a Librarian or Student Librarian. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills; an anticipatory and flexible mindset; demonstrated problem-solving, time management and creative thinking capabilities; the ability to manage a diverse set of responsibilities and competing priorities. A passion for working with young people and the adults who support them; deep knowledge and love of children’s and young adult literature and media;; comfort with and curiosity about emerging technologies and commitment to continuous learning and development will be an asset. The ability to use a variety of tools essential to the Library including Bibliocommons, Sierra (ILS system), Excel and CMS (content management system); instructional and/or presentation skills will also be an asset.

The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work:
30 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Starting Rate of Pay:
$38.77 per hour (This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.)
