Job description

There is an opening for GIS Technician within the Technology Services Division, Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Business Systems GIS Development Services, this position will be responsible for:
Provides GIS services related to data creation and cartographic products for staff and the public.
Assists with the management, collection, analysis, organization, and dissemination of Corporate GIS data.
Works with clients and participates on project teams to incorporate GIS best practices for data, requests, and products.
Prepares custom reports, graphics, charts, maps, plans, and documents for internal and external use.
Prepares training and reference materials under direction suitable for office and field staff.
Researches Data creation; compile, evaluate, reconcile, integrate spatial data and attributes.
Performs data maintenance/ validation using GIS tools, manual mouse work, keyboard, field data collection to edit both geographic and tabular data.
Develops Applications including creating online applications, dashboards, maps, reports, charts, statistics, presentations, project support.
Maintains related metadata and documentation according to Corporate Standards.
Performs data maintenance, analysis, reviews and updates.
Prepares documentation for projects, user manuals, articles knowledge base in HEAT.
Undergraduate degree in Geography, Geomatics, Planning, Computer Science or other related field.
Certified Planning Technician is considered an asset.
A minimum of one (1) year work experience and proficient with the following: ESRI Certificates in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online mapping and applications, Database fundamentals for MS Access, SQL, Oracle, AutoCAD Map 3D, Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project)
The current regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm inclusive (35 hours per week).
