Job description
Thompson Construction Group has immediate openings for Heavy Equipment Service Technicians working from our Fort McMurray operations centre.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed 500-hour inspection of complete machine for defects, to include inspection for leaks, cracks, plugged radiators, worn or broken edges, tips, circle drive, wear strips, tires, tracks and drive components.
- Repair/ Replace broken missing hose clamps, broken bolts, leaking hydraulic hoses, broken lights and grease/ hydraulics lines and fittings.
- Service/ Grease/ Lube complete machine.
- Document / Record any major leaks or repairs required and request parts as necessary.
- Record machine hours and unit number.
- Diagnose and repair company assets, maintain repair order documentation and assist other maintenance personnel when required.
- Document repair operations and time tracking in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure service trucks are kept clean, organized, and maintained properly so they are ready for use at all times.
- Perform technical inspections and document findings.
- Oil filter changes as well as air filters and cabin air filters.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of Heavy equipment maintenance experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Thorough knowledge of applicable safety practices and procedures and comply with all safety standards
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required
- Strong communication skills to coordinate work flow with crew, foreman and superintendent
- Valid Class 1 or 3 operators license with air brakes (candidate to provide current abstract)
- Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
- Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Regional Orientation / OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
- Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
- Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
