To support the on-going growth of our business, we are currently seeking a
Class 1 Driver: to join our West Edmonton team
Key Responsibilities : - Operate and drive Class 1 Flat Deck Truck to transport materials on urban/inter-urban routes
- Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals and brakes
- Oversee all aspects such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety
- Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
- Comply with Federal/Provincial legislative requirements such as legal weight, speed limits, permitting, load security, hours of service, etc.
- Administer bills of lading and maintain log book
- Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices
- Apply preventative maintenance and perform minor emergency roadside repairs
- Complete other paperwork as required
- Operate and perform in conformance with company processes and procedures
Essential Skills and Experience: : - Valid Class 1 drivers license and Commercial Vehicle Abstract
- A minimum of 3 years Class 1 driving experience
- Ability to confidently operate both manual and automatic transmissions
- Superior time management and organizational skills in order to prioritize tasks in a high volume and busy environment
- Effective communication, both written and verbal; including the ability to interface with customers and personnel at all levels
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Roll off experience an asset but not required
