The Faculty of Education is seeking qualified sessional instructors to teach the following courses during the 2023-24 academic year in our Graduate program:
04:705 (NET) Guidance and the Classroom Teacher
(2024 Spring Session, Term B: May 6 – June 20, 2024)
This course is an advanced study of the school guidance program with special emphasis on the role of the classroom teacher.
04:768 (NET) Ethical and Legal Issues for Counsellors
(2024 Spring Session, Term B: May 6 – June 20, 2024)
The course will provide the participant with background knowledge on ethical decision making models and the ethical and legal codes that guide counselling practice. There will also be opportunities to practice skills working with cases involving ethical and legal issues.
04:776 (NET) Social Ecological Resilience
(2024 Spring Session, Term B: May 6 – June 20, 2024)
The purpose of this course is to extend understandings of “risk” and resilience into contextualized and relational perspectives based in contemporary theory and research. Students will examine resilience as a dynamic link between an individual and their multi-level, relational developmental system. Indepth analyses of resilience as a process facilitated by social ecological factors such as families, schools, and communities will be explored.
04:710 (NET) Career-Life Development and Counselling
(2024 Summer Session, Term 2: July 29 – August 19, 2024)
This course will provide in-depth examinations of theory, research, and practice related to career-life development and counselling across the lifespan. Understanding the psychology of career-life development as a dynamic and holistic process, with attention on the practice of career counselling for diverse populations in educational settings, will be a central focus.
04:770 Intercultural Counselling
(2024 Summer Session, Term 2: July 29 – August 19, 2024)
The course will introduce the students to the theory and process of counselling as it interfaces with multicultural clients. The course will explore counselor beliefs and attitudes, provide knowledge of methods used to counsel in cross-cultural context and will train students to use skills which are culturally sensitive.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a completed graduate degree in School Counselling, Guidance and Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Social Work or a closely related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a PhD. Candidates must also be Certified Canadian Counsellors or registered with another suitable regulatory body. Counselling experience in a school setting or setting with children and youth is required. The successful candidate must also be accepted into the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Salary: As of September 1, 2022, $6,314 per 3 credit hour course
