Job description
The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as a valuable member within both the CYMHP inpatient and emergency mental health services, providing care to children and youth with complex mental health issues. The registered nurse is key in leading patient care, including assessment of risk, mental status examination, crisis management, establishment of effective therapeutic relationships, utilization of developmentally appropriate approaches to care, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions, and coordination of services. The RN offers mental health teaching to patients and families, demonstrates knowledge of all Ontario legislation that guides mental health care and is responsible for meeting the medical needs of clients, including medication management and education.
The Registered Nurse contributes to new and ongoing research, quality assurance projects, and provides consultation/liaison to caregivers and community agencies.
