Job description
Key Responsibilities Include:
What will you do?
- Development and execution of capital municipal engineering projects including but not limited to the road network, sanitary sewer system, water distribution systems, stormwater drainage systems and new City Facility construction or expansion,
- Procure and manage engineering consultants and contractors towards the execution of the capital projects,
- Frequent site inspections of active subdivision developments to ensure compliance with the City of Leduc Engineering Standards,
- Respond to requests for information for underground servicing, traffic data, and existing known conditions,
- Review new area structure plans and subdivision applications as submitted,
- Develop and report specific information and/or bylaws to senior management or Council as requested by the Director,
- Provide technical support in the development of capital plans/programs throughout the organization.
Requirements:
What do you need to succeed?
You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:
- Minimum Technical Engineering Diploma (Civil Discipline) from a recognized technical institute or a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
- Eligible for professional designation as either a C.E.T with ASSET or a P.Eng with APEGA. Engineer in Training (E.I.T) or technologist in Training (T.I.T) may be considered as an underfill
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in municipal engineering either within a municipality or with a consulting firm
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in project management
- Knowledge and experience with MS Office Software
- Ability to clearly communicate to a diverse group of stakeholders through both oral presentations and through report writing.
- Team player who is willing to support their teams’ projects and share their knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS software, water modelling software, and sanitary sewer modelling software would be an asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of municipal engineering practices and standards
- Current Driver’s Abstract with no more than 6 demerits
