SENIOR FURNITURE MERCHANDISING LEADER

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The employer is a very successful participant in the furniture industry. They have several showrooms in the GTA where they display their collections of products, in vignettes. They seek to engage a senior furniture merchandising leader from within the furniture or home decor industry. You should know furniture or home furnishings fashion and industry trends.

Your background should be in interior design or a related field.

This is a strategic head office role where you plan and maintain an appealing assortment and merchandise display.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and capability.

LOCATION:

North GTA / Vaughan. This is an on-site position.

If you live more than one hour by car from Highway 400 and Highway 7 in Vaughan, ON, then you will likely have to relocate to take on this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position reports directly to the Manager of the company who will provide training and guidance.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Staying abreast of the latest in trends, styles, themes, ideas and products in the furniture and interior furnishings industry.

Researching fabric offerings in the marketplace, and creatively identifying possible and suitable fabric to frame ideas that match these trends and themes, and that also complement the company’s product offerings.

Identifying and sourcing accessories and add-on items (such as lamps, tables, etc.) that complement and enhance the company’s products, in particular in the staging of the company’s showrooms and the latest themes on display.

Setting up and maintaining the showroom to ensure that it is always in its most optimal visual display.

Working with and advising management of any idea and suggestions that would improve the floor layout and visual display.

Organizing and overseeing photography work in the showroom.

Maximizing customer interest and sales by displaying products appropriately.

Producing layout plans and maintaining inventory.

Monitoring stock movement and recommending and implementing markdowns, promotions, price changes, clear outs, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

Relevant education (in Fashion, Design, Merchandising, etc.).

Up to date on the latest merchandising trends and best practices.

Experience in strategy and planning, merchandising and visual display in the furniture or home furnishings industries.

Suitable experience could include creative furniture designers who are or have worked with well-known trend setting figures in the furniture industry.

Another potential source of suitable experience might be Merchandising & Visual display Managers working in the Head Office of retail companies.

Must have strong presentation skills, verbal and written.

Must be a very creative person with a great flair for design and color.
