Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a property management company based in Surrey, BC. We are seeking a Maintenance Technician (Plumber) to join their team immediately. You will be working full-time on a rotating schedule from 8:00-4:30. This is a 1-year contract.
Your new role
Responsibility for skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair and upgrading of building systems components and related installations, including the performance of a variety of maintenance and installation tasks according to established schedules, methods and procedures. Identify malfunctions and undertake routine repairs or recommend those of greater complexity. Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for a physical plant.
- Install, repair and maintain commercial plumbing fixtures and systems.
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of the plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems.
- Operate and adjust control systems and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies.
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
- Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
- Install piping, fittings, tanks and valves in cold and hot water systems.
- Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
- Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
What you'll need to succeed
- BC Trades Certification or Red Seal certification in relevant trade.
- 2 years of working knowledge of sprinkler systems and water systems
- A minimum of 2+ years of Plumber experience, ideally within a public organization.
- Working knowledge of equipment used in facility maintenance work.
- The ability to establish and maintain satisfactory standards of maintenance and to implement predictive and preventative maintenance schedules.
- The ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision and be collaborative in dealing with fellow employees.
- B.C. Driver’s License.
What you'll get in return
You will be paid 36-39 per hour. This is a one-year contract with the potential to transfer into a permanent role. You spend full-time hours on a rotation schedule. Vacation and benefits are included.
