What YOU Will Do
Prepare the summary of quantities according to the plans and specs and by sorting them according to the standardized sections and functions of involved trades
Prepare an estimate of general conditions for review by the Preconstruction Manager;
Attend construction site visits and assess the difficulty of the project to estimate;
Utilize your research skills at every stage of the process to identify project-specific prices related to key items including labour, equipment and materials;
Invite subcontractors and, when required, send them documents pertaining to the work involved as well as grant them access to the virtual plan room;
Grow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve the project goals and vision
Verify content of all amounts received from suppliers and subcontractors as well as their compliance with bid documents upon compilation and bid closings;
Establish a preliminary work schedule;
Take part in bid closings;
Coordinate the various parties involved in the estimation of a design-build project;
Assist the preconstruction manager in searching for new contacts, subcontractors, suppliers, and work providers;
Suggest and quantify alternatives to bid documents for the purpose of reducing construction costs of bid projects;
Actively encourage a learning environment, share your knowledge and be a role model throughout the estimation process with our team.
What YOU Will Bring
A University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or Construction Management or a combination of education and industry experience;
8+ years’ relevant experience in estimating in the ICI construction industry;
Strong computer skills with estimation software and an enthusiasm for innovation;
A proven track record of project coordination and team collaboration;
Flexibility and an excellent analytical mind;
Good communication skills, both spoken and written;
Knowledge of the Atlantic Canada market.
