Position Title: Manager, Fisheries & Enforcement, Full-time, permanent position.

Location of Position: Corner Brook, NL

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $55,250.00

Job Description: The Manager, Fisheries & Enforcement oversees the day-to-day activities of the Division of Fisheries & Enforcement, a Division of the Qalipu Department of Environment & Natural Resources.

Responsibilities:

• Project Management
• Financial Management of annual budgets exceeding $200,000.00
• HR Management within the Division of Fisheries &
• Assist other members of the Department to plan and deliver on special projects and programs as assigned
• Ensure Vehicles, Boats, Trailers, and ATV's are purchased and maintained as
• Work with the Director to prepare annual budgets and review monthly budget variances.
• Supervise and effectively manage all staff working in the Division and ensure all staff have the support and opportunity to develop and increase professional capacity
• Plan and manage workloads, assign activities and overall project management within the Division and coordinate activities with the other QFN departments
• Ensure that all outsourced contracts, agreements and service providers are evaluated regularly to ensure the Nation receives the full benefits of the
• Ensure all relevant operations are compliant with QFN's ISO 9001
• Ensure that all the divisional activities and projects are evaluated in terms of performance measurement including outputs and outcomes and that annual and monthly evaluation reports are written as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of the internal operations and activities of QFN.
• Develop projects to involve local communities and members in Natural Resource management
• Work with QFN to seek greater participation in the decision-making processes used for Fisheries &
• Ensure Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to by all Division
• Work with other regional, provincial, and federal departments, agencies and organizations to ensure that QFN is represented in and has access to external information and discussions as required to represent QFN in Fisheries and
• Perform other related duties as required

Education: Preferred candidates will have a bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Fisheries, or related field of study.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related managerial experience, or equivalent. Project management experience is required. Knowledge of applicable fisheries regulations and legislation is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

This is an office-based position with duties predominantly met during regular working hours. Some field work will be required. This is a management position with minimal supervision, therefore a high level of independence along with a strong work ethic is essential. Some travel and flexibility of the work schedule will be required.

Annual Leave: FT employees - Three weeks per year.

Statutory and Non-Statutory Holidays: Employees are entitled to 13 days off to cover Statutory and Non-statutory holidays per year.

Summer Office Hours: Office hours during the summer months are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The schedule starts the first long weekend in May and continues until the last week of September.

Christmas Break: the office closes down during the Christmas break; this is an added bonus that employees are entitled to.

Registered Pension Plan: QFN has a pension plan, FT employees contribute from 4 to 7%, employee contributions are matched by the Band.

FT Sick and Family Medical: Full Time Employees are entitled to 12 paid sick and family medical days per year.

Under 2 hours Medical Appointment: Employees may attend an appointment of less than 2 hours with no deductions to Sick and Family Medical.

Discretionary Bereavement: One day off per year for the death of a relative not included as immediate family, a close friend or neighbour.

Volunteer Program: Employees may volunteer outside of the organization up to 21 hours per year.
