Dehcho Divisional Education Council is looking for an experienced educational leader to provide regional administration, services, and support for nine community schools in the area of Inclusive Schooling for the 2024/25 school year.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:         Regional Inclusive Schooling Coordinator
(Indeterminate)  
The Regional Inclusive Schooling Coordinator serves staff and students in the nine DDEC community schools including:  Fort Simpson, Fort Liard, Fort Providence, Wrigley, Nahanni Butte, Jean Marie River, Kakisa and Sambaa K’e.  Extensive travel is a necessity.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
•    This position exists to support school staff, students and parents while ensuring adherence to the Inclusive Schooling Directives (2016)
•    The incumbent regularly liaises with outside agencies related to student support services
•    The incumbent provides/coordinates staff development related to the provisions of education programs for all students, including learning about promising practices, as well as, specialized knowledge to support students with exceptional needs
•    The incumbent works collaboratively with school administration and staff to ensure inclusive programming is in place
•    The incumbent is able to support the development and maintenance of a District Wide Inclusion plan for all schools
•    The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Comptroller to ensure the funding provided for Inclusive Schooling is effectively used and consistent with the objectives of the NWT Inclusive School Directive
•    The incumbent will be responsible for creating and presenting written and oral reports to the Council Trustees and Territorial Government
•    The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of the student accommodation program for secondary students from Dehcho communities who do not have access to high school programming in their home community.
•    The incumbent is responsible for the development of the school calendars in collaboration with the principals and the central office team.

Qualifications:

•    Must hold, or be eligible for a N.W.T. Professional Teaching Certificate;
•    Must hold a Bachelor of Education degree or higher
•    Should have a minimum of eight years experience teaching at various levels that includes leadership experience.
•    Should have training in the area of Special Needs Education.
•    Must have at least 3 years of experience in special needs education
•    A Masters degree and training in Inclusive Education, as well as experience as a Program Support Teacher would be considered an asset.
•    Demonstrate ability to promote a culturally relevant program that supports the language and cultural heritage of the students and meets the inclusive learning needs of all students.
