The overall duty of this position is to direct and coordinate the activities of inspectors to execute routine, shutdown and turnaround inspections.
Due to the nature of this position there will be on-call and overtime requirements as well as some travel. This position is an Independent Contractor role.
Direct and coordinate the activities of inspectors to execute routine, shutdown and turnaround inspections on stationary equipment, piping plans and schedule inspection work based upon turnaround schedules.
Provide technical knowledge and expertise, including coaching and mentoring of contractors to ensure inspections and reporting are in accordance with corporate, federal, provincial and local inspection and testing requirements.
Provide technical knowledge and expertise ensuring compliance with inspection and repair codes/procedures including: API 510, API 570, and API 653.
Review and authenticate inspection reports to ensure accuracy.
Analyze inspection results and findings. Make recommendations based upon results of as-found condition, including repair recommendations and the need for additional re-inspection intervals.
Responsible for tracking and reporting on progress, added scope and issues/delays.
Receive and distribute escalations to the appropriate party as per the escalation contact list.
Consult with Supervisors or approved designates involved and provide potential solutions to infield roadblocks.
Mobilize crews to applicable work fronts.
Communicate consequences of potential delays to the Turnaround Execution Lead.
Prepare communication summaries to Turnaround leadership team and Turnaround Execution Lead.
Update daily Turnaround schedule chart.
In coordination with Field Supervisors, ensure crews have submitted the applicable work permits before execution of work and all permits are signed off at the end of daily shifts.
Ensure all FLHA’s are completed each shift.
Liaison with the HSE team to ensure all PPE issues are addressed.
Adhering to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
Firmly adheres to the values and ethics of Applus. Exhibits honesty, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
Strong technical knowledge of NDE techniques, services and procedures.
Fundamental understanding of industry codes, regulations and practices.
Ability to read technical documents and procedures and apply them in the field.
Excellent report writing and review skills.
Excellent customer service focus, ability to quickly build strong working relationships with business partners and colleagues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills matched with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.

Strong computer skills in MS Office and other software applications.
High School Diploma or Canadian General Equivalency Diploma, (GED).
5+ years of inspection experience in oil and gas plants.
Valid American Petroleum Institute (API) 510 certification.
American Petroleum Institute (API) 570/653 is a strong asset.
Previous NDE certifications valid NDE certifications is an asset.
Previous Suncor Base Plant experience is required.
In-Service Pressure Equipment Inspector certification is preferred.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Equivalent industry experience combined with other formal training and accreditations may be accepted.
Required to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.
Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials in various working environments.
Commonly exposed to walking on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Occasionally required to work in noisy/loud working environments especially on project sites.
Work outside of normal business hours will be occasionally required.
Required to work overtime during the week and weekend depending on project scope and work volume.
Ability to be flexible with work schedules and respond to request without advance warning
or notification.
Occasional to frequent travel will be required within Canada.
Working conditions will vary between project locations.
