About the role

The Environmental Technician is part of the Environment Sector team. He/She is responsible for planning and conducting environmental monitoring in the field as well as compiling associated data. He/She is in direct contact with workers to advise them on and raiser their awareness to environmental matters.

Essential Duties

• Plan and conduct environmental monitoring: effluents (mining, sanitary), surface water, groundwater, drinking water and others
• Manage, update and ensure integrity of monitoring data and participate in preparing various environmental reports
• Conduct environmental inspections. Identify and report regulation or good environmental practice non-compliances.
• Monitor preventive and corrective measures and ensure that they are completed and closed
• Assist and advise operations staff to maintain proper management of hazardous waste, solid waste and spills
• Participate in the environmental awareness training program for workers
• Provide environmental monitoring of various construction works on the site
• Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly with regard to health and safety
• All other related duties

Training & Experience

• College studies diploma in environmental science, mineral technology or a related field
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a similar position, ideally in the mining industry
• Strong knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Bilingualism, French & English is an asset
• Valid driver’s license
• Pleasure craft operator card

Working Conditions

• Fly-in/fly-out work performed in a mining camp on a cycle of 14 days in, 14 days out. Lodging and food provided on site.
• 12-hour work days.
• Frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions.
