QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Specific Accountabilities

LAB 232 -Power System Protection Lab

You will study protection devices and systems from a practical perspective. You will perform numerical relay testing as well as build and troubleshoot several protection and control schemes for various power systems.

Duties

1. Qualified applicants will be required to teach in the traditional areas of electrical engineering, as well as program specialty areas based on current program needs.
2. Prepare and use appropriate delivery methods for instructing assigned courses.
3. Ability to teach in other program areas is an asset.
4. Manage his/her classroom/lab/activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.
5. Manage face-to-face, blended, and online courses to ensure an optimum learning environment for learners.
6. Follow any academic regulations and/or policies adopted by Saskatchewan
Polytechnic and/or Saskatoon Campus.
7. Accommodate students with special learning needs.
8. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
9. Practice good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
10. Work cooperatively with program heads and colleagues in an interdependent “team” environment.
11. Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.
12. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
13. Attend staff, program and division meetings.
14. Assist in/arrange for equipment maintenance within the program.
15. Assist in conducting and maintaining inventory, and in ordering supplies, equipment and books.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology and experience.
2. Member of/or eligible for certification with APEGS as a P.Eng or with Technology Professional Saskatchewan (TPS) as an A.Sc.T.
3. Two years’ recent/relevant electrical engineering experience.
4. Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
5. Effective communication skills (written and oral).
6. Effective interpersonal skills.
7. Effective instructional skills.
8. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
9. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
