Job description

DEFINITION:

Under the direction of a Working Foreman, a student classification as defined by the Collective Agreement, who performs various manual labour tasks and operates small hand and power tools.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  1. Perform manual labour including, but not limited to, shovel, rake and pick work, grass and brush clearing, public refuse collection etc.;
  2. Assist other employees with their duties including, but not limited to, gardening, janitorial duties, etc.;
  3. Operate power tools and equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mower, weedeater, and other hand tools;
  4. Drive light vehicles, as required;
  5. Inspect equipment daily for visible damage, for fluid and fuel requirements, electrical systems, tire checks, etc., and report any defects to Working Foreman;
  6. Shift work may be required;
  7. Other duties, as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Completion of 1 year of full time post-secondary education, continuing studies on a full time basis in September
  2. Ability to operate related equipment;
  3. Good physical condition and able to perform heavy manual labour;
  4. Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;
  5. Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;
  6. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.
  7. First Aid training is considered an asset;
