Job description

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canada’s North. Located in Yellowknife, the Project Officer reports to the Senior Project Manager, Informatics and Health Technology (IHT). In this role, you will be accountable for developing and implementing small to medium-sized informatics projects for the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority, with potential collaboration from other organizations. You are responsible for working with appropriate staff to identify solutions and ensure successful implementation while applying project management methodology to ensure efficient and effective outcomes.

This position requires a high level of concentration and accuracy, and decisions can have long-range impacts on the Health and Social Services system. Furthermore, as a Project Officer, you will support business analysis and maintain relationships with stakeholders as you will be providing support for project proposals and administering contracts and sub-projects as needed.

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to manage informatics or technology-based small to medium-sized projects or operational areas, with active roles coordinating projects or leading operational initiatives within a single organization area. They should also possess interpersonal, negotiation, collaboration, and communication skills, and be able to assist in the development and coordination of meetings, build and maintain relationships within organizations, manage conflict and negotiations, and communicate business requirements to technical leads and subject matter experts.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus a minimum of two (2) years of experience on small to medium-sized projects or working on change initiatives in operational areas. Combinations of experience and education of greater than 6 years will be required based on the types of equivalent experience, project management training or education. Other combinations of post-secondary education, project management training /certification, GNWT/Northern project management, and/or related public service experience will be considered.
