Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry in Advanced Manufacturing Process & Automation Engineering out of our Stoney Creek facilities.

Job Summary & Reporting Structure:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Advanced Manufacturing/Process Engineering is responsible for performing and documenting all necessary tasks for PLC integration into assembly and MES for all production equipment and facilities. Working jointly with Project Engineering and Health and Safety, to ensure that plant and processing equipment is in safe and good working order. They will be responsible for robot programming, PLC programming, debugging, troubleshooting, processing, and repair (as required). As part of a team, they will troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems and participate in improvement projects and the installation of new equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Programming Fanuc, Sepro, and Ranger robots used in general assembly cells and on Injection Molding Machines
• Troubleshooting/improving molding machine robot cells through PLC and/or robot programming.
• Troubleshooting/improving assembly robot cells through PLC and/or robot programming.
• Working with Production and Process team to improve quality and reduce cycle times.
• Provide continuous improvement solutions for safety upgrades, rectifier installations, new equipment commissioning, and general process improvements.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, determine root cause problems, deliver solutions, and perform replacements.
• Update existing schematics to reflect changes and improvements that are implemented.
• Integrate assembly cells (PLC) into MES System and validate through production MRP/ERP (QAD)
• Maintain industrial Robotic systems for peak performance.
• Resolving equipment problems, installing new equipment, and other special projects.
• Promote continuous improvement in all areas of Engineering.
• Investigate new technologies and present to Management.
• Participate with other departments in identifying, analyzing, and implementing corrective actions to non-conformances or production/quality problems.
• Additional duties with similar responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 12 with equivalent work experience
• Preferred: Applicable Trade School or Post Secondary Engineering/Technical schooling to include PLC programming and robotics
• Must have: PLC & Drawing Interpretation, Robotics, Computer Control Systems, Pearl coding, demonstrated Electro-mechanical systems knowledge
• MES an asset
• 3-5 Years as a PLC Programmer OR equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on automation procurement, install, repair and troubleshooting
