OUR ORGANIZATION

The Seabird Island Band is a multi-faceted First Nations Band that includes government, business, service and nonprofit services. We work as an integrated team to improve the health, education, and economic opportunities for First Nations people to create thriving First Nations families and communities.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of College, the Dean of College (DC) shall provide post-secondary education and employment program leadership and management expertise. Specifically, the DE shall be responsible to the director for the efficient, effective and productive operation of the education and employment programs of Seabird Island Band, with an emphasis on post-secondary and Seabird College programs and bridging to employment.

The (DC) will be responsible for post-secondary programs and options, in partnership with other post-secondary institutions and according to grant funding success. The DC will assist in education and employment advocacy, compliance and reporting, to the Band and community, governing and funding bodies. The DC will play an integral role in planning and coordination of and assistance in the delivery of post-secondary / continuing education / summer education programs; in the implementation and evaluation of changes and new initiatives in the education programs (Education Jurisdiction for example); and ensuring details for successful implementation have been considered, addressed and delivered. The position will also oversee and manage the employment services offered by the Band. This position is expected to manage and oversee a variety of ongoing, annual and one-time projects and activities within the post-secondary education and employment portfolio at Seabird Island Band.
