Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Voice & Data Networks, this position is responsible for the ongoing implementation and support of the Region’s LAN and WAN technologies including VoIP. This includes asset management, maintaining a state of good repair of the network components, monitoring and troubleshooting network performance, fault isolation and post analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors and analyzes network performance across the Region’s LAN, WAN and wireless infrastructure and recommend enhancements to meet new or changing network demands.
- Installs and configures all voice and data hardware/software including routers, switches, UPS’, VoIP phones.
- Provides network hardware and software support by responding, analyzing, researching and resolving technical issues via telephone, remote access, or onsite, ensuring service levels are met.
- Plans and leads the implementation, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.
- Leads with the installation, configuration and testing of new network devices and performs upgrades as required.
- Provides network support for internal and external clients.
- Assists with security compliance of the Region’s network through policies, encryption and Antivirus Protection, through regular maintenance, audits and reviews.
- Maintains network infrastructure and performs regular security risk analysis to ensure state of good repair. Takes corrective action when required.
- Creates, manages, inventories, and monitors network devices and accounts.
- Maintains comprehensive system documentation.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma or degree in Computer Science
- Five (5) years IT Networking experience
- Experience with Cisco products, Core and edge devices utilizing layers 2 and 3
- Comprehensive understanding of routing, TCP/IP protocol, DNS, DHCP, LAN and WAN technologies
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN configuration and design, POE, firewalls and Radius server
- Experience with Microsoft products including Windows 7, 8, and 10 Active Directory, and SCCM
- Fundamental understanding of firewalls, IPSEC tunneling, Cloud technologies, IoT, VPN technologies and authentication and encryption methods
Preferred
- Networking certifications such , Cisco or Microsoft
- Experience with Azure Cloud and VMware

- Required to serve on standby for technical support on a rotational basis.
