Job description

Full-time Contract – 26 Weeks with possibility of extension 37.5 hours per week

Location – North Superior Workforce Planning Board (NSWPB) (Options for in-office and remote working will be available)

Project Description: Webequie First Nation and Marten Falls First Nation have partnered to undertake Environmental Assessments for all-season roads in the Ring of Fire area. This new initiative, working with Ontario, will result in developing a comprehensive workforce development strategy. It will develop priority recommendations to guide implementation decisions, budgets, and next-step funding proposals, to advance Indigenous training and development participation in proposed Ring of Fire Road projects and community infrastructure initiatives. It will also build community capacity related to workforce development and readiness. Combined, this will help to prepare community members to be active in the future labour market.

Duties: Provide subject matter expertise to support the Project Coordinator in project planning and organization to meet organizational goals and objectives.  Provide subject matter expertise to support the Project Coordinator in developing engagement strategies, outreach tools and resources, communication products, survey design and analysis. Mentor and coach two First Nations workforce development mentees to improve job skills, productivity, and performance. Provide feedback and support to help them achieve their goals and advance the project objectives and key deliverables. Develop and implement performance management strategies to help workforce development mentees improve performance, including setting performance goals, conducting performance evaluations, and providing constructive feedback. Develop and implement engagement strategies to improve workforce development mentees learning and contribution to project objectives. Serve as point of contact with the community supervisors of the workforce development mentee positions. Mentor and arrange training for workforce development mentees as may be appropriate to transfer skills related to workforce development, facilitation, community meeting/engagement planning, survey design, meeting recording/reporting and other transferable skills. Collaborate with mentees and other project staff to administer and tabulate community survey(s) findings and results. Collaborate with community partners to develop and maintain an Indigenous-inclusive training and development inventory of programs and wrap-around services. Communicate and provide regular updates on activities and progress of project objectives. Based on input and feedback, identify opportunities to improve access to training and wrap-around services for the workforce of First Nations. Other relevant duties as required.

Qualifications: Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Business, Business/Administration, Human Resources, Management, Public Administration, Marketing, Communication, Communications Business or Education, Social Science, or equivalent knowledge and work experience. Experience in service delivery of labour market programs would be an asset. Experience working with Indigenous communities or community partners is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and computer competency are required. Valid Class G Driver’s License and willingness to travel. Criminal record will be required upon hiring.
