Description

The Assistant Controller plays a crucial role within a construction company operating in the building and/or civil engineering sectors. Under the supervision of the Controller, they contribute to ensuring the efficient management of the company's financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of accounting data and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Assist the Controller in supervising, directing, and controlling the company's accounting cycle, including the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
Participate in coordinating, monitoring, and optimizing the accounting cycle of projects, ensuring compliance with established deadlines.
Contribute to analyzing the company's financial performance and preparing periodic reports to management on trends, variances, and forecasts.
Help monitor cash flows and working capital needs of the company, ensuring the availability of necessary liquidity for operations.
Participate in establishing and maintaining effective internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data.
Assist in preparing end-of-month and end-of-year accounting records.
Contribute to ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, in collaboration with legal and tax advisors.
Collaborate with members of the accounting department team to ensure effective task execution.
Assist in managing relationships with financial institutions and in negotiating credit lines and financing, as needed.
Contribute to coordinating periodic external audits and implementing recommendations.
Support the Controller in managing, evolving, and improving the company's financial management system.

Requirements

Degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 
Relevant experience in financial or accounting roles, preferably in the construction industry, is an asset.
Good knowledge of the construction sector and its financial specifics is advantageous.
Understanding of tax laws and accounting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
Ability to analyze financial data and make recommendations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.
Team spirit and ability to work collaboratively with other members of the accounting department.
