Allied Universal is seeking for Security and Fire Chief in Ingersoll, ON .
POSITION : Security and Fire Chief
LOCATION : General Motors, Electric Vehicle Assembly (Ingersoll, ON)
PAY: $34.34/hr
SHIFT : Full Time - Permanent – Day Shift

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Be able to read, write and speak in English and possess reading, writing and comprehension skills of an advanced level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial fire prevention programs including the NFPA, OFC, OFM and Simplex Fire alarm systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Security systems including Lenel OnGuard, Avigilon VSS, and building alarm systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Incident Management systems and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design concepts.
- Have a post secondary education in a security, fire, or a business functions related field. Or the equivalent in relatable work experience (~3+ Years Managerial)
- Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard License and a First aid/CPR certification (or CAMI equivalent).
- Be poised, tactful and diplomatic and have the ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment under stress and in emergency situations.
- Strong analytical skills needed to analyze complex data and develop reasonable analysis, appropriate conclusions, and innovative solutions
- Have working knowledge of various computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, payroll systems.
- Ability to maintain a busy calendar and prioritize events, meetings, and workflow.
- Have working knowledge of access control, CCTV, and life safety systems.
- Ability and knowledge in business planning - controlling and understanding high value budgets.
- Experience organizing complex projects, seeking quotes, and executing scope as required.
- Ability to manage aggressive behaviour in a professional workplace setting.
- Experience managing unionized staff members and maintaining morale of a large work force.
- Ability to manage multiple teams with differing goals and objectives at the same time.
- Ability to act as a liaison between company and client.
In addition:
- Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner
- Licensing requirements are subject to province and/or local laws and regulations and will be required prior to employment.

- Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites
- Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
- Able to:
- Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 20 kilograms
- Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
In this role, you will:
- Manage all security, fire protection and emergency response activities and supervise the site security, fire and emergency response teams at the General Motors Ingersoll location.
- Consult with local operations and site leadership to ensure their satisfaction with security services provided.
- Support the local implementation of GM Global Security policies and devise and manage post orders, standardized work sheets and other work instructions in accordance with GM Global Security/Fire Prevention and Protection manual.
- Assist in pioneering policy development surrounding emergency response to Electric Vehicle Battery events with high degrees of attention to employee safety and wellbeing.
- Initiate continuous improvement and quality assurance activities to ensure quality of contract security and fire services.
- Support the Global Security staff with security investigations on an as-needed basis. Provide support for the implementation and execution of local emergency response plans, crisis management plans, and security service quality initiatives and processes.
- Communicate regularly with other GM leadership regarding important security issues.
- Develops, maintain, coordinate effective communications with outside emergency agencies.
- Inspects, evaluates risks and ensures adequate coverage for the site. This includes compliance with post orders, associated regulations, and the General Motors Global Security/Fire Prevention and Protection Manual.
- Ensure schedules are developed to meet General Motors security coverage requirements.
- Assist in the selection, orientation, development, and retention of security contract staff in compliance with Government regulations.
- Ensures security staff is trained to General Motors requirements.
- Complete and submit quarterly Security Fire Compliance review’s and track corrective action items to completion.
- Conducts site assessments to ensure General Motors compliance and provides recommendation on operations, policy, and technology applications to plant management.
- Monitors compliance with regulatory and fire prevention requirements and safety items assigned by General Motors, the NFPA, OFM and OHSA.
- Develops/ maintains/ coordinates effective communications with local police, fire dept and EMS.
- Assures site compliance with applicable section of General Motors Global Security Manual as well as the supplier Standard Operating Procedures and Policy manual.
- Responds to all site emergencies and directs Security/Fire Activities. Ensures security staff respond and react appropriately as per site procedures and Supplier/ General Motors Policies and Procedures.
- Assures that all fire and security incidents are reported into AIMS and forwarded to the designated personnel. Identifies trends and ensures that appropriate corrective action is communicated and taken. Completes and provides follow up as needed.
- Ensures Hot Work Permit and Fire Impairment programs are properly administered and maintained.
- Maintain adequate access levels for all General Motors and Contract employees on site via badge access through Lenel Security Systems. Conduct high level access audits and suspend access for employees when needed.
- Maintain the Facility Business Continuity Plan, ensuring countermeasures and communications are in place to deal with emergencies in a way that mitigates loss of valuable property and production time. Averting issue that could arise as they relate to security, health and safety.
