THE JOB: Communications Coordinator
The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $55,490 -$ 69,363
Within the Communications and Public Affairs Department, the Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the execution of strategic communication efforts to promote the organization's mission, values, and objectives. This position requires a versatile and dynamic individual capable of managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while providing support to multiple clients across the organization as well as colleagues and senior team members. The Coordinator is a highly motivated, creative, and results-driven individual who executes a range of communication tactics to drive engagement and ensure consistency and alignment with the organization’s branding and communication goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Development and Management:
- Assist in creating, editing, updating, and distributing content for a variety of platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases, ensuring alignment with the organization's brand voice and communication objectives.
- Write articles, reports and correspondence when required by teams across the organization and committees.
- Support the management of the organization’s digital presence, including website updates, social media management, and email marketing campaigns, under the guidance of the Communications Specialist.
- Research and identify relevant keywords and hashtags and other key tags to promote and surface the organization’s content in search and other algorithms.
Project Support:
- Provide logistical and administrative support for communication projects including planning, scheduling, and tracking and reporting project progress.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely execution and delivery of communication initiatives.
- Assist with design/development of graphic design elements such as event invitations, swag and other needs while liaising with the Digital Communications & Marketing Team.
- Help monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication projects and strategies using analytics tools, contributing to the improvement of future campaigns.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Assist in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including responding to inquiries, coordinating with vendors, and supporting event management activities.
Collaborative Initiatives:
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support broader organizational goals, ensuring consistent and effective communication across various departments.
Brand Advocacy:
- Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring all communication materials and efforts align with the organization’s branding and ethical standards.

Communication for Results (I):
- Working with members of Specialist Services team to identify communications needs and assisting in developing communications strategies and plans to support those needs.
- Taking responsibility for implementing elements of communications plans as directed.
- Working as a communications support for the Specialist Services Committee and its initiatives, working with the committee (including Doctors of BC and Ministry of Health representatives) and initiative leads to support their strategic objectives.
- Drafting the content and design/layout of various materials including media materials, case studies, brochures and presentations.
- Reviewing and editing SSC-related content submitted for publications, presentations, etc.
- Liaising with contractors, as needed.

- Applies problem-solving methodologies and tools to diagnose and solve operational and interpersonal problems.
- Determines the potential causes of the problem and devises testing methodologies for validation.
- Shows empathy and objectivity toward individuals involved in the issue.

- Recommends resource requirements and collaborates with impacted stakeholders.

WHAT YOU BRING
- A degree, diploma, or certification in marketing, communications, event planning, or a relevant discipline and a minimum of two years of related experience; or an equivalent level of related work experience in lieu of education.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for great graphic design.
- Solid knowledge of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies.
- Experience and/or interest in executing marketing and communications strategies for online and in-person events.
- Familiarity experience with and passion for current best practices in web-based communications and web technology, and experience developing web content.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to handle a demanding and changing work environment, undertake multiple tasks, balance continuous demands, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Strong relationship-builder.
- Good knowledge of computers and software applicable to the work, notably the website.
- Knowledge of BC’s health care system is an asset.
