Job Title: Nursing Summer Student
Job Types: Full-Time, Part-Time and Casual contract positions available for Nursing students (up to 16 weeks). Applicants to express their interest in job type at time of applying.
Salary: $21.62 per hour

We are hiring Nursing students who have completed one year of the RPN or BSCN program or two years of medical science program, for summer employment. The successful candidates will work in the role of PSW, caring for the daily needs of our residents. There are a variety of shifts available, based on availability provisions and would require successful candidates to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Job duties include: - Supporting our residents through the delivery of the highest quality of personal care
- Working as a key member of Spruce Lodge’s multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care
- Fostering excellent relationships with residents, their families and the Spruce Lodge care team to deliver care focusing on flexible living and quality of life
Our Nursing students assist our residents with all daily living activities. They support residents with personal hygiene care, as well as basic nursing care, companionship and activities. Our Nursing students know our residents and are quickly able to identify and report any changes in the resident’s well-being to the Registered Practical Nurse or Charge Nurse.
Qualifications: - Completed one year of RPN or BSCN program or two years of a medical science program
- Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
- Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the PSW role
- Current and clear criminal check from a Canadian Police Information Centre, including vulnerable sector check completed within the last six months
