Job Purpose

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Production Manager and working as a key member of the Plant Production Team, the Production Supervisor will:

• Ensure adherence to customer and corporate specifications and requirements, including quality, safety and production KPI’s; escalate non-conformances or abnormalities to the appropriate staff or departments.
• Oversee production staff as assigned, organizing employee rotations, training and cross-training, responding to production plan changes from materials or maintenance, maintaining targets under the DOS system. Ensure successful onboarding of new employees is supported using the established resources.
• Train and coach production staff in a unionized plant, ensuring that Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality standards are maintained in accordance with federal and provincial legislation and Dana requirements.
• Conduct investigations/ incident reports as required, maintaining professionalism and effective listening and leadership qualities. Escalate to Human Resources as necessary.
• Monitor employee performance and attendance; take corrective action as required. Apply discipline in accordance with plant policies. Respond to first step grievances pertaining to production employees.
• Participate and implement improvements through actions created by LPA and SFA audits, Dana Diamond meetings and DOS events and initiatives.
• Support IATF, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 initiatives to maintain and improve management systems in place.
• Ensure all applicable EHS and Violence and Harassment in the Workplace policies are strictly enforced to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role, preferably with manufacturing experience.
• Diploma or degree.
• Possession of, or progress toward, a Dana Certified Supervisor designation. 
• Prior demonstrated effective Leadership experience.
• Strong analytical, inter-personal and communications skills.
• Proficiency on computerized systems, including Microsoft office. Prior SAP experience an asset.
• Track record demonstrating success in teamwork, change management and continuous improvement.
