Overview:

Buduchnist Credit Union, carrying on business as BCU Financial, is seeking an enthusiastic
individual with a passion for analytical thinking to join our financial institution. The Manager,
Financial & Regulatory Reporting will play a highly visible and crucial role in the Accounting
and Finance team by ensuring the efficient and effective management of essential financial
functions in the company. This role will assist the CFO in providing accurate and timely financial
information to the Credit Union’s Management, Shareholders, and Regulators, implementing
process changes to drive efficiency or meet changing external requirements, and maintaining an
exceptional control environment.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate, prepare, and reconcile financial statements, board materials and regulatory
reporting in accordance with timelines for monthly, quarterly and year end deliverables.

Prepare and review journal entries, proof of balance, and reconciliations for review by
team members or manager in support of monthly and quarterly close processes.

Ensure complete and accurate supporting information for financial transactions are
documented, maintained, and in compliance with the appropriate accounting policies,
procedures, and internal controls.

Gather and consolidate financial information and conduct complex data analysis with
large datasets working to identify patterns, trends, or insights.

Analyze reports and related data for completeness, accuracy, consistency with other
reported financial information, and data quality issues.

Prepare and maintain process documentation, accounting guidance, and operational
guidance for assigned financial disclosures and regulatory returns.

Investigate queries and resolve issues on behalf of internal and external stakeholders
with respect to daily operations, financial reporting, and regulatory returns.

Actively participate in cross-training with other team-members to ensure team resilience
and business continuity planning.

Identify, propose, implement, and test reporting solutions for new financial and
regulatory reporting initiatives/projects through interpreting requirements, and working
with subject matter experts.

Manage or coordinate regulatory, internal, or external audits.
Other duties as required.


Requirements:

Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply IFRS.
Advanced Excel skills to manage and analyze large data sets using advanced

function/formulas.
A solid understanding of audit compliance and processes.
Strong understanding of internal control process and impact on business operations.
Ability to independently propose solutions to problems and, leveraging business and

strategic insights, recommend a course of action, despite incomplete information and
complexity.

A solid understanding of the impact of stakeholder relations and negotiation practices.

Skills:
Excellent critical thinking and data analysis skills to effectively challenge financial

data when inconsistent or illogical through data analysis.
Ability to make complex subject matter easy-to-follow though strong written and oral-

communication skills.
Desire to challenge the status quo and make bold changes particularly with respect to

streamlining processes, increasing efficiency, and furthering execution excellence.
Ability to manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability

and through coordinating and negotiating with stakeholders.

Education/Experience:
Degree or diploma with an emphasis on accounting.
3+ years of experience in financial accounting or financial reporting role, preferably at a

Financial Institution.
Relevant management experience.
Completion of a recognized accounting designation is an asset.
Experience querying data from large database using SQL is an asset.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. BCU Financial also offers a
