Job Description
How You'll Make an Impact:
The Assistant Manager, Environmental Services is responsible for the oversight of all Environmental Services functions including:
- Leads, develops, motivates, directs and supervises front line and supervisory employees.
- Dispatches, assigns and re-assigns work to employees based on client and service requirements
- Performs audits ensuring client standards are adhered to.
- Prepares and provides overviews and reports to Manager, assists in the implementation of environmental service programs
- Supervise, coach, motivate and develop employees and supervisors to ensure all are appropriately trained and adhering to proper procedures.
- Performs coaching discussions, performance management as required
- Ensure completion of safety training and compliance
- Participates in hiring and staffing to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
- Maintains and tracks inventory levels of supplies and related costs, provides recommendations on quantity and timing of supply orders
- Participates in the implementation plans for environmental service programs, ensures compliance to programs and provides reports and recommendations regarding adjustments to plans and/or additional requirements, sits on site specific committees i.e. H&S
- Performs daily safety checks and inspections, performs safety observations on employees, conducts safety walks and trainings, conducts safety investigations, completes reporting on safety related tasks, ensures compliance within IMS system for training and physical safety tasks.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- 2-3 years’ experience within an EVS environment in a hospital or healthcare environment
- 3 years’ supervisory or management experience
- Post secondary diploma or degree in operations or related field or equivalent education and experience
- Completion of, or enrolment in Canadian Association of Environmental Management (CAEM) or Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers Association (OHHA) program preferred
- Ontario Hospital Administration (OHA) level 1 certification preferred
- Working knowledge of Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC) documents
- Computer skills (Excel proficiency)
- Health and safety regulations, quality control, custodial, grounds, office services,
- Managing third party contracts, and continuous improvement
- Strong financial acumen and contract management
- Excellent verbal and written communication is required.
