Job description
On-site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
The Role
In this role, you will oversee a group of salaried maintenance / tooling Group Leaders. You will lead the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities aligned with standard GM maintenance systems. You will conduct appropriate checks and tests and communicates evaluation of results. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions, recommend solutions to problems, and meet schedule and quality requirements in addition to the following responsibilities.
What You’ll D o (Responsibilities)
Lead the stamping and sub assembly technical teams
Attend and lead initiatives from technical manager's weekly meeting
Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team to drive results
Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Implements divisional and corporate policies
Implements safety and good housekeeping practices for the technical group
Frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment
Participate in the selection of new employees
Responsible for professional development of direct reports and conducting performance reviews
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
Leads technical guidance for complex and unusual plant operations or projects
Assists in the development of budgets and forecasts within assigned area
Obtains a deep knowledge and ability to implement lean manufacturing principles
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing / Assembly Plant environment
Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, equipment and technologies
Ability to analyze complex technical problems, identify root causes and implement effective solutions
Proven technical and professional skills in job-related area
High level of oral/written communication and interpersonal skills to work optimally with others
Commitment to continuous improvement and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, quality and productivity is essential in the dynamic automotive manufacturing environment
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Knowledge of Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
Understanding of Stamping processes, presses, cranes
Understanding of weld processes, resistance spot welds and laser welds
Experience working in an automotive industry
Manufacturing Launch experience
Experience leading in a unionized environment
