Municipal Affairs provides programs, grants, and funding opportunities for municipalities and community groups. The Department also provides services and guidance to municipalities in many areas including land use planning, budget planning and finance, infrastructure development, policy and program development.

 

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing is also responsible for ensuring the availability of safe, suitable, and affordable housing for all Nova Scotians. The Executive Director of Partnerships, Funding and Municipal Taxation is a key leadership role, overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes the delivery of cross-government strategies for municipal capital planning and infrastructure funding programs, as well as the administration of major municipal infrastructure construction projects. You will also lead the Municipal Taxation and Financial Accountability unit, ensuring the implementation and monitoring of taxation policy and regulatory frameworks for Nova Scotia’s municipalities.

Your leadership drives cost-effective solutions and fosters healthy and vibrant communities. With accountability to senior government officials, the ED is integral to building resilient municipalities and fostering a thriving future for Nova Scotia.

Primary Accountabilities

 

As the Executive Director, you’ll provide expert advisory services to municipalities and government departments, shaping strategic multi-year capital plans that address infrastructure deficits.

 

You are integral in:

Qualifications and Experience

 

You have completed a post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, engineering, or another related field. You must understand financial principles, infrastructure planning, and project management. Professional certifications in accounting or engineering (i.e. CPA, P.Eng.) or advanced degrees are desirable assets.

 

You have several years of progressive leadership experience in roles relevant to municipal infrastructure planning, funding, and administration. This includes experience in providing strategic direction, overseeing operations, and managing teams to achieve organizational goals.

Working Conditions

 

Most of your work is in a central office environment with frequently required travel to various locations across the province, including other government offices. This role requires high personal resiliency to meet emotional demands as you navigate complex situations.

What We Offer

 

 

Pay Grade: EC 16 

Salary Range:  $5,262.46 - $6,578.05 Bi-Weekly
